Assembling a Wig Care Kit

Whether you’ve just purchased your first wig or you have a small collection of various styles, it’s important to have tools on hand to take proper care of the wigs you own. You can start off on the right foot by putting together a wig care kit as soon as you acquire a wig. And if it’s too late for that, check your supplies and fill in the gaps. You only need a few basics to keep your wigs looking their absolute best, and luckily for you, Envy Wigs carries everything on the list. All you have to do is find the right bag, bin, or drawer to store all of your supplies in!

Wig Stand and/or Mannequin Head

Your wig needs a place to rest when it’s not atop your head, and that place to rest should not be a plastic bag. In order for your wig to maintain its proper shape and to prevent unpleasant tangles, take it off your head every night and put it directly onto a wig stand or mannequin head. If you own several wigs, clear off a shelf in your closet or bedroom so you can line up your wig stands in an easily accessible fashion.

Wig Comb and Brush

Gently combing your wig when it’s dry or after it’s been washed goes a long way towards keeping the strands looking lush and shiny. You should never pull the comb through your wig with too much force or yank on tangles, just carefully separate the strands either while the wig is still on your head or on a wig stand. Go ahead and get a couple sets of combs and brushes so you have back-up and duplicates for travel.

Renu and Repair

Strands of synthetic wigs can become damaged and broken just like real hair. Use Envy’s Renu and Repair glosser spray to whip the ends of your wigs back into shape. It mends frizzy ends and gives your wig a beautiful coat of shine and luster.

Beauty Balm

In many ways, styling your wig is just like styling your regular hair. And like regular hair, sometimes it needs a little product to stay in place. Envy’s Beauty Balm is a smooth blend of natural ingredients like acai, mango, and more that come together to form a sculpting creme. This product will help give your wig texture and a little oomph.

Hair Detox

Though it is important to wash your wigs regularly, you can get by in a pinch with Envy’s Hair Detox. The anti-bacterial spray features a refreshing natural mint oil in its toxin-free formula. Applying the spray lightly gets rid of dirt, odors, and pollutants that get into your wig throughout the day.

The secret to a perfectly natural look is a slightly imperfect part, says Designer and CEO, Alan Eaton. “Gently reposition strands along the part line or snip a few wispy pieces using manicure scissors—AND some restraint—for a slightly messy part that looks all your own.”

For first-time wig wearers, “The trick is to stay close to the color of your eyebrows,” notes Designer and CEO, Alan Eaton. If not, “then consider dyeing your eyebrows to match your chosen wig color.”

Words of Wigdom™
“Few people know that wigs can be styled just like natural hair—and that most hairstylists are happy to give your wig a custom cut,” says Designer and CEO, Alan Eaton. “Trimming bangs and shaping to your exact specifications can help make your wig indecipherable from your own natural hair.”

“The “Grey Hair, Don’t Care” trend—which saw women embracing their grey—is stronger than ever. And not just with the over-50 crowd. “Silver is chic, edgy and looks great on almost anyone,” says Designer and CEO, Alan Eaton, who offers nearly every EnvyHair™ and synthetic style in 3 multi-dimensional grey shades.”
