Learn All About the Trendy Lob

The look that’s got everyone buzzing this summer isn’t a bob or long hair, it’s something in between. The long bob, also known as the Lob, is a manageable style that offers the best of both worlds. It’s easy to style, and it’s proved to be a great transition for those who are trying to grow out pixie cuts or short bobs. The lob is usually blunt with no layers, but that’s not a hard and fast rule. Layers or no layers, the length offers a multitude of options for styling and suits just about any face shape.

Celebrities sporting the lob recently include Jennifer Aniston, January Jones, Charlize Theron, and Jessica Alba. If you’re not ready to make a trip to the salon and take scissors to your locks or if your hair is too short or not there at all, you can try out the Lob by donning one of our wigs.

Envy has several options in our collections that mimic the Lob, and it’s not a bad idea to see whether the popular style suits you before making a long term change. Since the Lob length varies and falls anywhere below the ears to the shoulders, many of our hairstyles are similar to the trendy look.

Hannah, a Human Hair mono top style with a lace front and hand tied sides and backs, comes in nine colors and is a perfect match for the Lob. It barely brushes the shoulders and offers a soft and attractive look. If you’d like a shorter option with more layers, consider the Lace Front style called Taylor. It frames the face and angles in around the chin.

In our Envyhair collection, consider Lynsey. It’s a medium length with uniform strands that are a breeze to style. Jade, a Lace Front style, gives the Lob some sass with curls along the bottom of the wig. It’s available in several colors, and the curls fall just above the shoulders.

The secret to a perfectly natural look is a slightly imperfect part, says Designer and CEO, Alan Eaton. “Gently reposition strands along the part line or snip a few wispy pieces using manicure scissors—AND some restraint—for a slightly messy part that looks all your own.”

For first-time wig wearers, “The trick is to stay close to the color of your eyebrows,” notes Designer and CEO, Alan Eaton. If not, “then consider dyeing your eyebrows to match your chosen wig color.”

“Few people know that wigs can be styled just like natural hair—and that most hairstylists are happy to give your wig a custom cut,” says Designer and CEO, Alan Eaton. “Trimming bangs and shaping to your exact specifications can help make your wig indecipherable from your own natural hair.”

“The “Grey Hair, Don’t Care” trend—which saw women embracing their grey—is stronger than ever. And not just with the over-50 crowd. “Silver is chic, edgy and looks great on almost anyone,” says Designer and CEO, Alan Eaton, who offers nearly every EnvyHair™ and synthetic style in 3 multi-dimensional grey shades.”
