Despite all the festive celebrations (or maybe because of them), one American Psychiatric Association poll reports a 41% increase in anxiety during the holidays. Hair loss doesn’t have to add to it. And the sense of connection you find in a support group or charitable organization can make a big difference.
Facebook’s TL Wig Support Group is a safe place for women (especially those new to wig wearing) to talk about their hair loss and find support and education. And there are numerous resources for those looking to donate a wig to someone going through cancer treatment (or who are themselves):
- The American Cancer Society (ACS), collects wigs through its local chapters’ wig banks.
- CancerCare provides free wigs, support groups, and patient education.
- The EBeauty Community offers a Wig Exchange Program and Hospital Partnership Program.
